Position Overview

The Senior Director, Technology Advisory is both a strategic advisor and hands-on practitioner, leading complex technology engagements, performing assessments, and producing executive-ready deliverables that drive measurable portfolio value. In this role, you will partner closely with Private Equity sponsors and portfolio company executives to shape, execute, and communicate technology strategies that enable growth, efficiency, and exit readiness.

The Senior Director, Technology Advisory will:

Client Delivery & Leadership

  • Lead and oversee complex advisory engagements including IT due diligence, technology strategy, operating model design, process improvement, and transformation planning.
  • Translate business objectives into actionable technology roadmaps aligned with portfolio value creation goals.
  • Serve as trusted advisor to PE sponsors and portfolio company executives on technology investment priorities, risk management, and modernization initiatives.
  • Perform hands-on assessments of applications, infrastructure, and data environments to identify opportunities for cost optimization, scalability, and performance improvement.
  • Develop and deliver executive-ready reports and presentations (PowerPoint) that clearly communicate findings, risks, and recommendations.
  • Facilitate governance meetings and executive discussions to align stakeholders, manage risk, and ensure successful outcomes.
  • Lead and mentor engagement teams, ensuring deliverables meet client expectations for quality, timeliness, and impact.

Practice Leadership & Development

  • Enhance and evolve PIP’s Technology Advisory frameworks and methodologies, ensuring consistency, quality, and repeatability.
  • Coach and develop team members and contractors, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.
  • Contribute to practice growth initiatives, including capability development, IP creation, and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with alliance partners and internal leaders to strengthen delivery, expand capability, and improve client outcomes.

Sales & Business Development

  • Partner with account managers and engagement leads to scope opportunities, shape solutions, and craft compelling proposals.
  • Support pre-sales activities through the development of high-quality pitch materials, proposals, and Statements of Work (SOWs).
  • Lead and participate in client meetings and presentations, articulating PIP’s value proposition and shaping opportunities aligned to client objectives.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key client stakeholders and decision makers across PE sponsors and portfolio companies.
  • Identify and develop new opportunities to expand PIP’s presence and influence within existing Private Equity clients and portfolio ecosystems.

We are excited about you because you bring:

  • 12–15+ years of experience across technology consulting and enterprise IT leadership roles, including 8+ years in client-facing delivery roles.
  • Proven success leading technology advisory engagements for Private Equity firms or portfolio companies.
  • Deep expertise in at least 3 of the following: IT due diligence, technology strategy, enterprise architecture, data and AI, cloud and infrastructure modernization, and M&A integration – with the ability to identify and quantify value drivers.
  • Broad technology expertise spanning enterprise applications (ERP, CRM, and industry-specific line-of-business systems) and core IT disciplines (operating models, cybersecurity, architecture, and data governance), aligning technology to business and transformation goals.
  • Understanding of key financial metrics and private equity drivers (EBITDA, cash flow, multiple expansion, ROI) and can connect technology initiatives translate to measurable outcomes.
  • Hands-on leadership style: equally comfortable performing detailed assessments, developing deliverables, and guiding teams toward client success.
  • Exceptional communication and influence skills, engaging effectively from SMEs to C-suite executives with concise, outcome-driven language.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or relevant certifications (ITIL, TOGAF, PMP, AWS/Azure, NetSuite, Salesforce, etc.) preferred.

Success Metrics & Outcomes

  • Deliver high-impact engagements on time and within budget, consistently exceeding client expectations.
  • Drive measurable portfolio value through technology optimization, cost reduction, and scalability improvements.
  • Achieve performance targets for utilization, client satisfaction, and business growth.
  • Build trusted relationships that generate repeat engagements and strengthen PIP’s reputation in the Private Equity ecosystem.
  • Contribute to PIP’s growth through thought leadership, practice development, and creation of reusable tools, frameworks, and intellectual property.
  • Expected client billable utilization 70 – 75%
  • Sales targets $2 – $4M consisting of solutioning of opportunities identified by Business Development + extension/expansion/pull through from individual delivery work
