Aligned Experience: Consumer Electronics Distributor
Background
- Client is a PE-owned $75M+ company merging two divisions which both use Epicor Eclipse onto a single instance.
- There were significant customer master, product master, and contact master discrepancies between the two divisions which had to be identified and resolved before they could merge the two divisions onto one instance.
Approach
- Established data quality standards, measures, and quality rules, and gathered data sets and the desired data taxonomy.
- Performed data mapping of source to target systems and aligned taxonomy definitions using Data Bricks and SQL development.
- Developed the data transformation rules and routines, and designed & executed the data cleansing program, including deduplicating product records, customer records, and validating customer contact data ahead of full data migration onto the main Epicor instance.
Results
- Enabled standardization of customer, product, and contact master data.
- Delivered the project at 31% of budget (an $88k savings) due to creative use of advanced data quality techniques.
- Created a data governance and business-led ownership model, facilitated by IT
