Microsoft 365 Consolidation – Global Media Company
Collapsed a complex and disparate global email/collaboration environment into a single M365 tenant
Client Situation
The company is one of the world’s largest global media companies with offices in 15+ markets in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia Pacific. The company has grown significantly through acquisition.
Challenge
- As a result of multiple acquisitions, the organization had a mix of email and collaboration platforms across its offices. The company had multiple Microsoft 365 tenants along with G-suite and other collaboration platforms. Additionally, the company had multiple Active Directory domains. This mixture of platforms made communication and collaboration challenging.
- The Company wanted to streamline its communications and collaboration by moving to a single Microsoft 365 environment. It engaged PIP to help it plan and migrate its desperate email/collaboration systems into a single, company-wide solution.
Solution
- PIP worked closely with IT and business leaders to understand the current environment and its desired future state. The team then developed a detailed migration plan, including timelines, resource requirements, and budgets.
- Once designed, PIP then executed the migration plan, including the consolidation of user accounts into a single platform, mailbox migration to the central M365 platform, migrating user and shared files to OneDrive/Teams/SharePoint, and the migration of end-user pcs to the central MDM solution
- PIP provided continued support post migration to address any lingering issues and close out any remaining post-migration tasks.
Results
The company was able to fully map out the migration plan including timelines and budgets. It was able to successfully collapse mail from its 15 offices into a central M365 tenant. The company achieved the following outcomes:
- A seamless transition/consolidation to the Microsoft 365 platform
- Increased resilience of corporate e-mail through a Cloud-first strategy
- Increased collaboration and access to company information on a shared OneDrive/ Teams/SharePoint platform
- Simplified e-mail administration, including automatic upgrades
- A single Microsoft Active Directory domain allowing for easier administration and end user support
